Smt. Reena Devi aged 34 years, from Pulkit Mahila self-help group lives in Uttari Mandiri. Both husband and wife used to sell vegetables but not able to make livelihood because of poor income and no dignity in the city. They migrated to Patna from Motihari in search of better livelihood and dignified life. SamriddhiiTM motivated her to form the group and she then joined Pulkit group. Now she alone makes Rs. 5,000 to 8,000 per month besides her husband income.

“Earlier my husband used to go to the Mandi early in the morning around 5:00-5:30 to purchase vegetables. Then our family used to get involved in washing and cleaning during the afternoon period. Around 4:00-5:00 PM till 9:00-10:00 PM in the night. This way my entire family was involved in this business whereby we all were engaged in different activities. On the best of the days, we used to earn about Rs. 100/- to Rs. 150/-. But on the worst of the days, we were even making losses. The losses were mainly because of the fluctuations in the prices in the market and at the end of the day business cash advance, we were forced to sell the vegetables at whatever price because we couldn’t store the vegetables for the next day.

In around 2009, I joined the SHG formed by SamriddhiiTM and got associated with it. Since joining SamriddhiiTM our workload has decreased.
